This article covered the CERT training that took place at Union High School in Nevada. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team. This program is in place to help train community members to take action when an emergency strikes. They are able to administer based first aid, perform search and rescue duties, and put out small fires. This 20 hour course is offered for students interested in law enforcement. The main point of the article is that it is good to have trained CERT people because then in case of an emergency there is a larger number of people that can help out.
I do agree with the point made in the article. I really do think that Espedal had it right when he said “The more people trained, the greater the response,” and that can have a major affect on the overall outcome of an emergency situation.

Nevada Union High School students participated in the CERT program, the Community Emergency Response Team. The CERT program is a 20-hour all risk training program teaching students on how to prepare for and respond to emergencies. This program was created to help sustain victims until first responders arrive on scene. At this high school, students volunteer to participate in this program. This program provides information ranging from basic first aid to putting out small fires. The main point of this article is to inform readers how easily accessible it is to provide the necessary education to youth on how to react in emergency scenes. The result of this program will increase the chances of a victim surviving and decrease death from a result of the amount of time the first responders take to arrive on scene. This program is informative while at the same time fun and relatively easy to accomplish. These teens are volunteering their time to learn about how they should respond in emergency scenarios, which will save lives. The CERT program is not only very informative but also financially reasonable. Nevada Union Highs School didn't pay a cent for this program, because all of the material is supplied by the County Department of Public Health. I agree with this article. This program will save lives in the future, while at the same time informing and getting youth involved. The CERT program is efficient, educational, fun and free! I would participate in the CERT program because I would receive the necessary information on how to react efficiently in an emergency situation. I would add to this article statistics informing how positive this program is, including the increase percentage of life saved on scene. I would also add the first responder's views of this program, and how it helps them out with their job.

Nevada Union High school students train to assist in the face of an emergency ~ Jacob Dalton

Nevada Union high school students have started training to prevent and contain emergencies in their high school, anything from a minor cut all the way up to a broken wrist Patti Carter, the EPP coordinator for Nevada County showed students how to splint a broken wrist with a textbook and a tee shirt. The Idea is to show them a couple of basic things so if they ever find themselves in a Medical Emergency they can provide care and support before EMT's arrive. I personally agree with the idea of training high school students in basic medical care and attaching them to a CERT ( community Emergency Response Team ) and all the times I have worked with CERT I have had nothing but pleasant encounters with them! In Nevada county it must be different from cook county because here you must be 18 with a high school degree in your hand to apply for the CERT if not for that I would have applied when I first met them in the summer of 2016. I would love to see a program similar to this implemented IN Evanston Township High school and I would be the first to put my name on the list to apply, I fully support and will continue to support any program which take some of the stress off of the first responders of America

Nevada Union High School Students Train To Assist In Face Of Emergency By Deshawn Jones

Nevada Union Highschool students are apart of a program/Organization that teaches them how to stabilize someone's injury during an emergency.
The main Idea is simply being prepared. It is necessary that students know what to do in situations where someone may need medical attention. This doesn't only apply to school grounds, This training is beneficial to the community as well. Being able to go next door to help you're wounded neighbor is outstanding.
In my own personal opinion I agree one hundred percent with the article. Having the opportunity to be apart of a public safety class has taught me things that I know will be valuable wherever I go around the world. I think it's important that  classes like these are taught to kids around the world, The World needs more doctors and people who can medically assist others.
What I can provide to the article is extra techniques I've learned throughout my public safety class because I feel along with the ones already mentioned  you can't go wrong.

This article is about a high school that trains students how to do things like control bleeding, basic first if , small fires & they also perform search & rescue duties. Another important thing they learn how to do is get information & how to report it the responders or an authorities. They do this in case of an emergency, to come the patients & also because in school responders might not be on the scene when thing like this happen. You could save someone life knowing things like this. The main part of this article is to show what high school kids are doing to try an save someone's life , how the program could help certain things that happen in a school. To show how this is important. I Agree with this article because this is something good. It would be a good feeling to change someone's life. I can add to this article by saying this is a good thing , teaching someone how to save life's.

How I Can Contribute to Ending Youth Violence by Zoe Kurtzer

Being an ETHS student I can do much more than what I am currently doing, to decrease and maybe even stop (youth) violence. I actively attempt to preoccupy youth by recruiting as many people as possible to the extracurricular activities I participate in. By recruiting more youth to extracurricular activities this will prevent youth to be doing illegal activity or just bad activity. If every youth, no matter what grade actively worked towards recruiting other friends and other people their age violence would go. Recruiting people at a young age will be even more effective, than recruiting high school youth. Starting kids at a young age to be more active in extracurricular activities whether it be sports or clubs is vital in making the next generation smarter and safer, this will create a mindset of being busy and preoccupied. In elementary school, me and a small group of friends created a book club for any student to join. Doing this will make kids busy and will decrease time for violent activities. This club also helped kids want to be more literate and apply themselves to school, which is always good. I brought this up because no matter how young or old a child is, they still have the ability to have an effect on others and change the outcome of their future and other's future.

Javian Lori Drew Case Response

After Lori Drew feared that a girl, Megan Meier, at her daughters school was spreading rumors about her she created a fake Myspace under the name "Josh Evans." She proceeded to correspond with Meier for a months time; during this time, the messages where seemed "flirtatious." A message was sent from Drew to the Meier that implied that the world would be better off without her. Other students joined in on harassing Meier, and her mother found she had hung herself in the closet on October 16th, 2006.

In court, there was not enough information to charge Drew with the death of Megan Meier, but Drew was charged on 4 other charges: intentionally accessing a computer used in interstate commerce "without authorization" and in "excess of authorized use," using interstate commerce to use a computer to cause emotional distress, and two counts of breaking the Myspace Terms and Agreements.
