Lori Drew and Megan Meier Case Analyzed by Zoe Kurtzer

Lori Drew, Sarah Drew and Ashley Grills should all be arrested for the murder of Megan Meier. The Criminal Justice System exists to serve and protect the peace. The judges let the murderers off the hook in this case, thus relaying the message to other people that the illegal actions perpetrated the three murderers is acceptable. Sarah Drew had a history of mental illnesses, one including depression, that had a huge factor in her death. Despite her illness, this does not validate what those three people did to her. Whether or not they were able to understand the terms of agreement (if they couldn't understand it, they should not have made the account), these three people have common sense and know that it is dangerous and not okay to falsify an account for greed. On top of falsifying an account, they intentionally bullied Megan and posted hateful and dangerous material to her to receive a reaction back. Whether or not Lori or Sarah Drew created the account and sent the material, they were all aware of exactly what they were doing. If Lori Drew really created this account because she feared Megan was bullying her daughter, she should have walked up the street and had a civilized conversation over their concerns with Tina Meier, Megan's parent. Sarah Drew is equally responsible for the murder of Megan Meier. Sarah Drew knew Megan on a personal level, and  was educated enough to realize the possible implications of creating a false account to cyber bully Megan. Law enforcement agencies create false accounts all the time, to solve a case. Despite what they are doing, creating false accounts, the code of ethics still exists to use social media responsibly. Ashley Grills is also equally responsible, she added to the situation and knew what she was doing was wrong, illegal and immature. This case could have been avoided in many ways. First, Sarah Drew should have consulted a professional and discussed Megan's history of attempted suicide. All three murderers should have spoken directly to either Megan Meier or Tina Meier or both respectfully and genuine about any concerns they had. This is a case full of pathetic excuses from all three murderers attempting to legitimize and suppress their actions of murdering 13 year old Megan Meier.

CJ Controversy:

In my opinion I think that Drew should have  been punished because she was sending her bulling  messages but  Drew felt ''terrible'' about her death so I think that Drew should of  been punished by the criminal justice system. Because that's cyber bulling. The lessons I would take from Meiers suicide is that  they should  be  careful on who they do it because they could get an innocent person but then they start to grave or lower  him in and then they just grave him. Also the police officers should get as much evidence for that person they are following so they could say ok this is the person we are trying to grave.

Police officers should have more rules like gathering evidence for the person they are trying to get because the police officers targets have not committed any type of crime and they do not deserve those things because that's there privacy. Also they should there's a lot of people out there making  fake accounts  so one does int know  if they are a police officer or a person trying to get someone and also a big thing is that you could be hurting the person you are texting because they get cat fished the person thought you were real  but in the end they end up knowing that the person they were telling all there intimacy with was not real and so they commit  death. So in my opinion police officers shouldn't just watch out who are there victims.

Lord Drew and Megan Meier case- Selena Magdaleno

Lori Drew should be punished for her actions. Lori Drew made a fake Facebook page and was messing around with Megan Meier. Megan thought it was the "boy" She was talking to but in reality it was Lori Drew. Lori Drew sent negative messages on Facebook that no one wants to hear it states in the news that Megan Meier has been dealing with depression before and this Facebook page made it worse. She's been doing things to harm her self like she started to cut her self. Then after hearing more hateful messages that she received she hung her self. Lori Drew should be punished she should have never made a fake Facebook account and messaging her with hateful messages that no one wants to deal with. If she never made that Facebook page Megan Meier would've still been alive. Its cyber bullying Megan's mother shouldn't have had to go through that and see her daughter take away her own life in a very young age. No one deserves to be in a position Megan Meier was in.

Lori Drew vs Megan Meier. Jescell Mitchell

Lori Drew should be punished by the criminal justice system for her actions because she was very much involved with what was going on. There was no real reason for Lori Drew and her daughter to create the Myspace page to bully Megan. They took things to far when things turned for the worst and they said " I don't know if I want to be friends with you anymore because I've heard that you are not very nice to your friends." Then at that point more messages were sent and Megan's messages were shared with others, and bulletins were posted about her. As an adult/ parent she should've known what she was doing and put a stop to it.
Rules that I think police officers should follow when creating a fake social media account is to make good judgement, always hide your personal feelings regarding a situation. Another rule I think would be appropriate is to never get too comfortable and be too friendly, easy way to get your cover blown because you ain't friends with this person in real life, you guys are only friends because you want to find out information.

Lori Drew knew what was going on, she admitted to making a fake myspace account under the name of a boy named Josh. Where she wanted to get information from Megan Meier to later humiliate and embarrass her and her family. Not only that but Lori got her daughter and one of her employees involved as multiple people ran the account. Her daughter Sarah used to be a friend of Megan, they had a falling out as witnesses testified that Lori was to use this information as a form of revenge for spreading rumors about her daughter, which yes the mother should've gotten involved and interfered but doing this and cyberbullying a 13 year old girl was just not acceptable.
With this information, yes Lori should've been convicted what does a grown women have to do with something that includes children? It should have never gotten this far, to the point that Megan committed suicide. I get it she wanted to help her daughter out but this was not the way to do it, it shows how grownups as well can be really immature too not just children. Lori shouldn't have gotten of, her daughter and her employee should've been charged too as they had a role and as they did not notify the proper authorities.

For police officers creating fake out accounts be aware of what you are saying to kids, they think differently than you do. Some aren't as mature and never let a situation get out of hand, insulting, name calling, black mailing people for information etc... is not the way to go. Police officers have to be aware of that, not only is it bad that a police officer has created a fake account but talking to teens and the teen later finding out its a fake account and reports it, it can reflect badly on the police officer and the department as well.

Lori Drew and Megan Meier - Ahtayon Taylor

Lori Drew should have been punished for the suicide of Megan because she knew that she was cyberbullying maybe she didn't think that is was going to go that far but she caused Megan to want to harm herself by putting her down. It isn't something any parent wants to go through and she caused that pain to Megan's parents. She should be punished because it wasn't right for her to put down anyone to the point where they would want to harm themselves. The rules that i would set up for bullying would be a felony because when someone is being bullied through the Internet they want that person to kill themselves til the person really does it and they regret it. Bullying is like killing someone your making someone feel so bad to the point they don't wanna be on this earth. The lesson that i would take from this case is that cyberbullying is serious , people should not take it as a joke. Words do hurt and sometimes they can hurt someone to the point they don't wanna be on earth. If i was creating fake face book(s) i would stop and apologize to the people i said hurtful words to. I will tell the truth and never do that again. I will stop cyberbullying because i know its not right.

Lori Drew And Megan Meier By Deshawn Jones

In My opinion I believe that Lori Drew should have been Punished by the Criminal Justice System because her actions were very wrong. Drew took things father than what she was attempting to accomplish, Telling Meier that the world would be a better place without her. As An adult I think in a situation like this the appropriate thing to do would be to take a walk down to Meier's home and have a talk with her and her mother. Kindly ask if she's making negative comments over social media and unless you have proof whatever her answer is go from there.
If I had to create a set of rules for police officers who create fake social media profiles it would be three simple rules with the first being
No negative thoughts or personal opinions that may blow the case or make the person feel bad or the need to harm themselves.
Depending on the situation- Do not make a social media profile unless appropriate for the situation
Make good decisions and consult with others before making certain actions on social media
I believe this situation could have easily been avoided, The purpose of the account wasn't to make Megan feel bad, But to find out information.
