People use social media to report emergencies or call for help. It states they expect government responce agencies to be actively engaged using technology. They did a survey 99 % adults said they should monitor their websites and social media netowkrs so they can respond faster and help. 

Federal emergency managements agency state local entities that operatos are using aocial media and web technology to reach out and interact with the public. 

     There trying to show methods in social media to help in case of an emergency. it states," Social media tools allow emergency managers to disseminate infromation to wider audiences interact with the public monitor social media networks to get a better sense of whats happening on thr ground during a crisis."

     Emergency managements in San Franciscos has a presence on facebook and twitter and youtube as a way to responce about an emergency. They encourage twitter followers to sign up for those alerts and alert SF subscribers to use twitter. 

      They are monotoring send recieved messages, The conversations, sources for situational awareness, and collaborate responders. To make America safer in social media is collecting the best practices of the different social media tools available.

Nevada Union High School students train to assist in face of emergency

In Nevada Union High School there teaching them to know there's procedures in place for these kinds of events for they can know what there doing. Patti carter told all the students to gather in the gym she was demonstrating her point she used a textbook and showed students how to use a book to splint a broken wrist.
     It's a 20-hour all risk training that teaches students how to prepare for and respond to emergencies. The CERT program was first developed in Los Angeles in 1985. The program for the high school was about five years ago by Chris Espedal he is the safety and School climate coordinator of the high school.
      It's at no cost the high schoolers volunteer for the training and it covers variety of topics. They learn how to use basic first aid, control bleeding of an injury or treat patient for shock, they learn how to put out small fires, search and rescue duties also collect information to report authorities. The training is a useful experience for students interested in career law enforcement or fire or medical service. Eyes on the Prize overall was a very moving documentary that highlighted the African American struggle for civil rights and the ugliness in our country's history. The part that stood out to me the most was the trial of Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam. It was very saddening and angering to see how unjust the decision of the court was by ruling them innocent. In my opinion, it was easy to know that they had murdered Emmett Till, but it seemed even easier for the court to rule that they hadn't, simply because of race. This illustrated the raging racism in the south, and how far people would go to keep the system intact.

Technology has changed how many things are used today for example emergency response. People are starting to take to social media for ways to contact for emergency, for example people would go to Facebook or other social medias to reach out to the police if a regular 911 call would work. Technology is being used to reach a wider audience a way to better an emergency response. The San Francisco´s emergency management agency are taking to YouTube disseminate information about emergency preparedness, they also take to twitter to issue public warnings. Technology is also helpful for emergency response because they can send out alerts through anything electronic as an amber alert which is very helpful for getting information out there for crisis. I agree with these ways to use technology for getting responses other then dialing 911 because people use technology a lot so getting those alerts out there is very useful.

This article is about students in Nevada who are learning how to treat injured victims with everyday materials. They are taught on how to treat a broken wrist with a textbook and how to make sure if they are first responding to a scene they have to make sure the scene is safe and calm things down that way it would be easier for the paramedics to come and help treat the patients. The CERT program was first developed in Los Angeles in 1895 . The CERT stands for community Emergency Response Team and students were taking part of the this program. In this program students learn how to administer basic first aid, control the bleeding of an injury or treat a patient for shock. They also learn how to put out small fires put out search and rescue missions, collect data and response to medical emergencies that may happen in the school. The main point of this article was to bring information about the CERT program and how its transforming the way basic materials are being used to help injured patients receive immediate care. I do agree with this article because its best to be safe then sorry. And training teens to be better prepared for serious life situations can only benefit them.

This film spoke to me in many ways. It is a film that was from the point of view of the ordinary men and women whose extraordinary actions launched a movement that changed the fabric of American life. Eyes on the Prize recounts the fight to end decades of discrimination and segregation. It is the story of the people -- young and old, male and female, northern and southern, who are trying to make a difference in the world. Whites and blacks in the 1960’s were not able to eat in the same places, drink out of the same water fountains, and sit together on the same bus. What moved me about this movie in particular, was probably the murder of Emmett Till. This innocent, black 14 year old kid was caught flirting with a white waitress. Four days later, two white men kidnapped Till, beat him and shot him in the head. The men were tried for murder, but an all-white, male jury acquitted them. This made an impact on America, and still does today. It was so awful that of course, it was a white jury. I could not imagine being black living in the south back then. The amount of racial slurs thrown around, and horrific actions happening to blacks makes me cringe to live in this world today. The Emmett Till murder trial brought to light the brutality of Jim Crow segregation in the South and was an early impetus of the African American civil rights movement. This movie brought to my attention how much privilege I really do have.

The article is about students helping in the process of an emergency and it talk about taking care of the person hurt before the first responce team is on scene the person has already been taken care of so the professional when they are there everything is already calm and they could just do their job other than talking and telling people watch out.

 The main point of the article is that in the school if something happens and a student is there before the school nurse or an ambulance the students can help which make the situation better because if their was a really bad cut the student could help stop the bleeding which the person would have saved more blood which has a more likely hood of surviving.

I do agree with the article but one thing it did not talk about was that after they take the class what do the students do to stay fresh as in remember the materials like what to do how to do it and when to do it.
