Nick Maish-Nevada Union High school CERT
Patti Carted came to a high school in Nevada to help kids be aware of a emergency medical situation.she had taught the kids how to use their surroundings to help treat someones injuries. She took 26 students and explained all they need to know in order to help in case of emergency, she explained this as neighbors helping neighbors till the first response can get their. She told them not to panic and just be aware of whats going on. She used objects like a textbook to give examples of how it can be used to help someone in case of an emergency. The CERT program helps students and teachers, The supplies they need are given tho them by the county department of public health, so the CERT program is full funded and free t teach the school. They learn how to treat people who are in shock, use a basic first aid kit, control bleeding, preform search and rescue duties, put out small fires, and collect info to give to the authorities or first responders. This program is made specially for student who want to pursue a career in public safety.
The main point of the article is for The students and first response team to help one another fight and prevent hazards.
I agree, this should be in every school in the us as a class to help prevent further injury and the safety of the community. They should also teach the kids how to prevent injury and not just try to fix it after it happens, and what to do when the first responders arrive.
